The The Indian MuayThai Team leaves here for Bangkok to attend World MuayThai Congress, Seminars, Camps, Trainings, Tournaments, etc.
The events will be held from Decemebr 1 to 14 at Bangkok and Samui, South Thailand under the aegis of the World MuayThai Council and International Federation of MuayThai Aamteur, World Heagquarters, Bangkok.
The Indina MuayThai Team led by President of the MuayThai Federation of India and Amateur MuayThai Association of India, Oken Jeet Sandham, included Secretary General O Manglemjao and Coach L Thoiba Singh.
Oken Jeet Sandham will be attending World MuayThai Congress while O Manglemjao and L Thoiba Singh for various World Seminars and Training programmes respectively.
During the two-week long World MuayThai Coingress, Seminars, Training Camps, various issues including the forthcoming 14th Asian Games, 2002 at Pusan, South Korea and Olympic Games, 2004 at Athens, Greece will be tabled as to how the Amateur MuayThai would be pushed to be introduced in the 2004 Olympic Games at Athens.
It may be mentioned that Indian Amateur MuayThai Team led by Oken Jeet Sandham had aleady participated in the last 13th Asian Games, 1998 at Bangkok when it was for the first time introduced as a discipline in which two Bronze Medals had been won while O Manglemjao was Refreee as the first Indian.
L Thoiba Singh from Manipur got Bronze Medal in it.
It may be mentioned that Oken Jeet Sandham was the first Indian who not only brought MuayThai officially in Indian soil with the full authority from the World MuayThai Council and International Federation of MuayThai Amateur, World Headqauters, Bangkok but also official signatories in the formation of the World MuayThai Council in Bangkok in 1995 and Federation of Amateur MuayThai of Asia in 1997 at Bangkok.
Oken Jeet Sandham has already been appointed as South Asian Co-ordinator for International Federation of MuayThai Amateur by its President Gen Vorayuth Messomanta at Bangkok in 1997 during King's Cup.
